Environment

From the outset, Lecluyse has been concerned with the environment. In the past years, we have duplicated our efforts in order to satisfy the strict European ecological requirements, investing in new machinery and the latest technological advances. This has resulted in our environmentconscious production culture.

We commissioned an independent environmental advisory agency to study in what ways Lecluyse could best contribute to an efficient environmental protection methodology. The answer was clear enough: by not burning used blinds but rather by recycling them. This led to the implementation of our return-system.

Stage 1: Recovery of your used blinds
When you decide to replace your old blinds for new ones and you place an order with us, you can deliver your used blinds to us. This means that your used blinds do not wind up on the garbage pile as waste residue and will not be incinerated!

Stage 2: Recycling of base materials
The used blinds are brought to our plant and are reduced to granulate in a special machine. Following a strict quality test, the recycled granulate is being mixed with new base materials that are used in the production of the new rigid vinyl vertical slats. We thus use fewer new base materials in the production of our blinds!

Quality assurance
An internationally recognized research institute (TNO in Delft) has conducted a comparative study to determine the quality of blinds made with recycled base materials and blinds made with 100 % new base materials. The study demonstrates that both kinds of blinds pass all tests (firmness, light density ...) equally with flying colors. In short: top quality such as you expect from a Lecluyse product!

Our system delivers a dual environmental benefit:

  • namely: reduced air pollution. The used blinds are not incinerated, which means that no noxious substances are released into the atmosphere. Moreover, sustained use of base materials
  • we are mindful that we only have one earth - and the cost-effective utilization of our natural riches constitute the key factors for the survival of our planet.
